Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

The Bible, as originally written, was inspired by God and is, hence, free from error. It constitutes the only infallible guide for faith and practice.

  • There is one God, the Creator and preserver of all things. He exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are of one substance and equal in power and glory.
  • Man is in a state of sin and spiritual death and thus under the sentence of eternal death. From this condition, man can only be saved by the grace of God, through faith, on the basis of the work of Christ, and by the agency of the Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus Christ is the eternal, only begotten Son of God the Father. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He is true God and true man, and is the only mediator between God and man. To effect salvation, He lived a sinless life and died on the cross as sinful manís substitute, shedding His blood for the remission of sins. On the third day, He rose from the dead in the body which had been laid in the tomb. He ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He reigns now as King of kings and Lord of lords. He shall come again to earth to complete His saving work and to judge all men.
  • The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity. He applies to man the work of Christ, renews manís nature through regeneration and sanctification, and sovereignly gives spiritual gifts for the building up of the body of Christ, the church.
  • The believer, having turned to God in repentance and faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ, is accountable to God for living a life separated from sin and characterized by the fruit of the Holy Spirit, for spreading the gospel, and for contributing to the up-building of fellow believers in the church.
  • At the end of the age the bodies of the dead shall be raised. The righteous in Christ shall enter into full possession of eternal life in the presence of God, and the wicked outside of Christ shall be condemned to eternal death.
